Preparing students for mock exams in Tutor Time

Three tutor sessions which promote discussion on how we have become an inclusive society, how we could make school more inclusive and how we could make the world more inclusive.

It is something we never get trained in - how do new teachers know how to phone parents? Yet, it is one of the most effective interventions we can do to get students back on track.

This assembly explores why we should put more effort into giving at Christmas rather than writing a list and wanting many gifts. It also investigates giving to charity and random acts of kindness as well as gifts you can make for free.

Different traditions from around the world are explored in this assembly. Some funny, some religious and some strange! Wait until you see what Iceland believe!

This assembly looks at loneliness at Christmas within our community and how we can help. It also looks at our own feelings at Christmas and how we can look after ourselves during this time of year. It is thought provoking and touches on the Christian message of love and uses the John Lewis advery from a few years ago to get individuals thinking about how we should all care for each other at Christmas.

An assembly with a powerful video at the end looking at why people cyber bully and what we should do to keep safe on line. The assembly also has some statistics on cyber bullying on a rolling powerpoint when children enter the assembly hall.

This assembly firstly looks at world records set at Christmas. Then staff or students have to take part in a world record attempt themselves (you will need chocolate brussel sprouts). It then links into a modern look at the Nativity Story as it would appear in today's world.

Launching your Christmas appeal? This assembly will get students thinking about how money and presents will not make us truly happy at Christmas. It looks at how much we spend in the UK and how a little bit of money can go such a long way in Africa. That aside, we have to show love at Christmas.

This assembly looks at the importance of literacy across all subjects and as the primary way human beings communicate. It looks at the power of the spoken word, written word and the power of punctuation.

It explores the history of questioning (Socrates etc) and then looks at levels of questions and how our classroom should be an environment where we learn knowledge, question information and listen to and comment on each other's thoughts.

You can divide this up into several CPD sessions or edit/ slim down for one. As the slides progress, there are some practical activities staff can do.
